This year, Colonial Williamsburg celebrates 30 years of Leicester Longwool Sheep. George Washington raised 600-900 sheep every year at Mount Vernon. The breed died out in America around 1920. In 1990, eight ewes, one ram, and six lambs arrived from Australia. What started as a flock of 15 has grown to about 50 sheep!
