Debtor's Prison c. 1810 @ Historic Court Circle - Gloucester, VA, USA
This building completed in 1823 covers a portion of a much earlier structure. Debtors incarcerated here were allowed out during the daylight hours for exercise. Prisoners could go anywhere within boundaries marked with whitewashed stones except into a building where there was a billiard table.
