Back Creek & Torrey Ridge - Ravens Roost Overlook @ MP 10.7 on the Blue Ridge Parkway - Lyndhurst, VA, USA

At the base of the ridge is Torrey Iron Furnace that operated sporadically between 1804 and 1892. Tredegar Iron Works of Richmond owned the furnace during the American Civil War when it supplied pig iron to the Confederacy. The furnace was destroyed in 1864 by Union Brigadier General Alfred N. Duffié. The furnace was rebuilt in 1865 and operated through 1892.
