Ocracoke Island offers 16 miles of undeveloped coastline, including eight beaches. In 2020, Dr. Beach rated Ocracoke's Lifeguard Beach the second-best beach in America. Ramps along Highway 12 provide off-road vehicles with access to many of the beaches. I took these photos at Pony Pens Beach, directly across Highway 12 from Ocracoke's Pony Pens.
