Market Hall & Town Hall c. 1850-1851 (P. C. Hardwick) inspired by Westminster Hall, London @ Durham Market Place - Durham, England, UK
Durham Town Hall, completed in 1851, offers a medieval-styled Main Hall sporting a Perpendicular Hammerbeam roof with a Jacobean fireplace and stained glass windows. Architect Philip Charles Hardwick designed the hall. It is used today for town meetings, full council meetings and is available for hire.
Durham Market Hall houses over 50 local independent stores offering local fresh fish, poultry, cheese, butchery, produce, bakery and spices. Other stores include fashion and beauty, gifts, housewares, and hobbies. There is also a cafe overlooking the market.
